Rod Carbonell, RN, BSN, MHA

Chief Development Officer

As CSA’s Chief Development Officer, Rod Carbonell is responsible for identifying, cultivating and executing growth opportunities with health systems and physician groups, including health system joint ventures, de novo ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and acquisitions of existing facilities.

Mr. Carbonell began his career in the healthcare industry in 1997 as an Operating Room Registered Nurse in both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Prior to joining CSA Rod spent 6 years with a large national ASC firm where he managed a portfolio of joint-ventured surgery centers and where he served as President of Muve Health and ValueHealth, an innovative program that used surgery centers and overnight nursing care suites to perform high-acuity total joint surgeries under value-based-care payer arrangements. Notably, in 2003 he led the business and clinical operations to open the first surgical hospital in Colorado which performed the first of many high-acuity surgeries in an ASC with short-stay capabilities.

Rod also spent a decade working in leadership and executive roles at Healthcare Corporation of America (HCA), a fortune 100 company, giving him a unique perspective in understanding hospitals, health-system and physician practice operations.

Mr. Carbonell earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska.
